Marcia Neal, R-Grand Junction, was elected to the State Board of Education and will replace current Chair Pam Suckla (R-Slickrock) at the January meeting. Evie Hudak (D-Arvada) was elected to Sen. Dist. 19 and a vacancy committee will determine her replacement within 30 days of Hudak's resignation. State law prohibits her from serving on both the State Board and in the Senate.
The board will reorganize in January when new members are sworn in. It's unclear at this time if the only new member at that meeting will be Marcia Neal, since Hudak has not yet tendered her resignation.
