SB 61, Charter School Equalization Bill Delayed Until Monday

After about two hours of debate on the floor of the Senate, SB 61, which would equalize mill levy funds to also include charter schools, has been laid over until Monday.

Numerous anti-charter school Senators spoke against the bill and offered amendments that would either gut the bill or weaken it. In fact, Sen. Zenzinger (Arvada/Westminster) offered an amendment that would have made the entire bill permissive instead of mandatory.

As it was, there were several compromise amendments added to the bill and it will remain in that form when it comes up again on Monday.
